It’s been a long build up to the premiere of Boardwalk Empire. Finally we can see if the show lives up to all the hype.

Other reviews, the not so good ones, have said the first episode moved slowly. Have to disagree on this one. The first episode did the job of setting the scene with gorgeous full on sets and introductions to much of the characters.

Boardwalk Empire – workings of the greatness of Mad Men?

Now, you might be thinking that this is an obvious question. Sure, it’s a tv series based in a time that is not now. Ok I get that, but what Mad Men has done was and continues to do is pretty amazing. Being completely true to the time period, drawing you into the characters and all the while being able to highlight those little touches of the period without ever seeming forces or worse, cliché.

At least the government of America can provide a few laughs. Case in point, the period from 1920 to 1933 known as the Noble Experiment but more widely recognised as Prohibition. The laws passed during the period up to 1920 aimed to stamp out drinking while only succeeding in increasing the levels of intoxication across the states as well as increasing the potency of the beverages consumed.
